Hiring a tree service in Homosassa is mostly a matter of asking the right questions before anyone climbs. Broadway Tree Care works across Citrus County, and if you searched for tree service Homosassa FL, that page covers the town itself and how we reach it. This post is the list of questions we would want answered if we were the ones hiring, and how we answer each one.
What should you ask a tree service before you hire?
| Question | A good answer | Our answer |
|---|---|---|
| Will you quote on site, in writing? | Yes, after looking at the tree, the access and what sits under it | Yes, free, before any work starts |
| Is the written price what I pay? | Yes, and they stop and talk if something unforeseen turns up | Yes |
| What insurance do you carry? | The type of cover and the company name | General liability, as Broadway Tree Care LLC |
| Is cleanup included? | Wood and brush hauled, the ground raked or blown clean | Included, not a separate charge |
| Is the stump included? | Priced separately or included, but stated | Quoted separately so you can choose |
| Does it need to come down? | Sometimes no, and they say so | We say so when pruning will do |
| What do you check first? | The root flare and the soil at the base | Root flare and soil first |
Why should the quote be on site and in writing?
Tree pricing is driven by things nobody can describe accurately over the phone: how much clear space sits under the canopy, whether a truck can get within reach of the trunk, what is directly beneath the limbs and how the tree is put together at its unions. Height on its own tells you very little. A tall tree with one straight stem and an open drop zone can be a quick job, while a shorter tree with a split fork and a pool cage on one side has to come down piece by piece.
So ask for someone to come out, look and write the number down. Then ask what happens if something unforeseen turns up mid-job, like decay far worse than the bark suggested or a buried line. Our answer is that we stop and talk to you rather than carry on and add it to the invoice.
What insurance should a Homosassa tree service carry?
Ask for the type of cover and the name of the business it is under, and write both down. Broadway Tree Care LLC is insured for general liability. If a company cannot tell you what it carries, assume the risk of a limb through the roof sits with you.
Ask about qualifications too, and ask for them in writing, the same as the price.
Does the price include cleanup and the stump?
Some quotes stop at "tree down." Ask whether the wood and brush leave the property and whether the ground gets raked or blown clean. On our jobs that is part of the price, and there is no separate cleanup charge.
Stump grinding is quoted separately, which is fine as long as you know. Ask how far below grade the stump is ground and whether the grindings are hauled away or left as backfill. Our stump grinding page covers both options.
Does the tree actually need to come down?
A removal cannot be undone. Ask whether reducing some overextended limbs and taking out the deadwood would get the tree through, and if every answer from a company is removal, get a second opinion. A tree health assessment exists for exactly that question.

What should a crew check first?
The base of the tree. On our tree health assessments we look at the root flare and the soil over the root zone before we look up at the canopy, because a lot of what goes wrong with a mature tree here happens at or below the ground line: a flare buried under mulch or fill, girdling roots, or rot working up from the base. If a tree has started to lean, or the soil has cracked or lifted on one side, say so when you call, and our guide to the signs a tree needs to be removed lists what else to watch for.
What should you have ready when you call?
Tell us which tree prompted the call, what it hangs over (a roof, a pool cage, a screen enclosure, a power drop) and roughly how tall it is. Say how a truck reaches it, because access affects both the method and the quote. If there are two or three trees you have been thinking about, have them all looked at in one visit, so you get everything in one written quote. We take cards and cash, and we do not offer financing.
