About Broadway Tree Care

Broadway Tree Care is a tree service working across Citrus County, Florida. We handle removals, trimming and pruning, stump grinding, storm and emergency work, tree health assessments, cabling and bracing, lot clearing and planting: residential and commercial, from single hazardous trees to full parcels.

Twenty-seven customers have rated the work on Google, and the profile shows 5.0 stars (read live on two public Google surfaces, 2026-09-01). Several of them describe the same things: showing up when we said we would, leaving the yard clean, and pricing the job at a number that made sense to them. Those are not hard standards to meet, and it is worth noticing how often they are not met.

What we try to be careful about is the advice, not just the cutting. A tree service that recommends removal every time is easy to find and expensive to use. Most of what we get called out to look at falls into one of three categories: a tree that genuinely needs to come down, a tree that needs some work and will then be fine for years, and a tree that is fine already and worrying somebody unnecessarily. Telling those apart is the part of the job that saves people money.

We work as a service-area business, which means we come to the property rather than operating a yard you visit. Quotes are given on site and in writing before any work begins, and cleanup and haul-off are part of the job rather than a line added at the end.

The counties we cover are not interchangeable, and we do not treat them that way. Crystal River and Homosassa are coastal, with salt exposure and a water table close enough to the surface that trees root shallow and anchor poorly. Inverness and Hernando sit against the Tsala Apopka lake system, where soil saturates seasonally and healthy trees rotate out of the ground in storms that are not particularly severe. Lecanto and Beverly Hills are higher and drier, with better-anchored trees and a different problem entirely: an aging planted canopy on lots that no longer have room for it. Dunnellon is a different county with different rules and a century of phosphate mining underneath it.

Knowing which of those you are standing on changes what we look at first. On the coast we check the root flare and the soil around the base before anything else, because that is where the failure will start. Around the lakes we look for a lifted plate on the uphill side of a lean. In Beverly Hills we look at what the neighbours' trees have been doing, because a planned community's canopy tends to fail as a cohort rather than one tree at a time.

There are things we will not put on a website. We do not publish a licence claim we cannot evidence, we do not advertise staffed hours we have not verified, and we do not use stock photographs of somebody else's tree work. Where this site is quiet about something, it is because the fact was not established: not because it was inconvenient. If you want to know something specific about qualifications, insurance or availability, call and ask, and you will get a straight answer rather than a marketing line.

The most useful thing we do is probably the advice that costs us a job. A removal is the most expensive item we sell and the only one that cannot be reversed, so when a tree does not need to come down we say so. Several of the Google reviews on our profile are from people whose trees are still standing.

What customers write about most often is not the cutting. It is showing up when we said we would, working carefully around what is already on the property, and leaving the place clean. One review mentions the yard being spotless after a big job; another mentions no damage to the garden beds around the work. Those are not difficult standards, and it says something about the trade that they are worth mentioning at all.

We work for homeowners, property managers and commercial owners, and the mix of work runs from a single hazardous tree beside a house to clearing a full parcel. Residential jobs are most of what we do, and the majority of those are removals and pruning on mature trees that have outgrown the space they were planted in: which, on lots laid out sixty years ago, is a very common situation across this county.

Our approach to pruning is worth stating plainly because it is where the trade divides. We do not top trees. Cutting main limbs back to stubs triggers a flush of fast-growing shoots that attach weakly to the outside of the old wound, and those shoots fail worse, at a larger size, a few years later: while the large cuts themselves open the trunk to decay the tree cannot seal. It is cheaper to sell and it looks decisive, and it damages the tree permanently. We prune to the branch collar and to a lateral, which lets the tree compartmentalise the wound properly. If somebody has quoted you a topping job at a good price, that is what you are buying.

The same honesty applies to what we cannot do. Anything touching an energised power line is utility work, and we will tell you to call them rather than putting a saw near a live conductor. Roof repairs after a tree comes off are a roofer's job, and we will say so. Tree work near wetland boundaries or on protected species may need a permit or an approval we do not issue. Knowing where our work stops is part of doing it properly.
