We take down what needs taking down and we say so when a tree does not need it. A removal is the most expensive thing we sell and the one thing that cannot be undone, so it is worth being sure. If reducing some overextended limbs and taking out the deadwood gets a tree through another decade, that is the better job for you and we will tell you.

The other half of the work is timing. Florida's hurricane season runs June through November, and the useful preparation is not the aggressive canopy stripping that gets sold every May. Removing deadwood, shortening limbs that have grown out too far, and clearing what overhangs the roof genuinely reduces risk. Thinning out the interior of a canopy does not, and can leave a tree more vulnerable rather than less. We will do the first and talk you out of the second.

Every job is quoted on site and in writing before anything starts, and the cleanup is part of the price rather than an extra at the end. Wood and brush leave with us. What is left is the gap in the canopy and, if you want it, a ground stump you can sod straight over.

Cost is the question everyone wants answered on the phone, and it is the one that answers worst that way. Tree pricing is driven by things you cannot describe accurately from memory: how much clear space sits under the canopy, whether a truck can get within reach of the trunk, what is directly beneath the limbs, and how the tree is put together at its unions. A sixty-foot tree with a single straight stem and an open drop zone is a quick job. A forty-foot tree with a split fork, a pool cage on one side and the service drop on the other has to come down piece by piece, and it will take most of a day. Height on its own tells you very little.

That is why the quote happens on site and why it is written down. You get a number before anyone touches the tree, and that number is what you pay. If something genuinely unforeseen turns up once we are into the job: decay far worse than the outside suggested, a buried line nobody knew about: we stop and talk to you rather than carrying on and adding it to the invoice.

One practical suggestion: if there are two or three trees you have been thinking about, have them all looked at in one visit. Most of the cost in tree work is getting a crew and equipment to the property and set up, not the cutting itself. Dealing with trees one at a time, as each becomes urgent, means paying that setup over and over.
